Welcome to the Golden Cap Association

The Golden Cap Association (West Dorset) was founded in 1978 and has over 300 members. All National Trust members and accredited volunteers are welcome to join. We support the work of the National Trust locally and offer activities such as talks; walks; coach visits; quizzes; lunches etc and three newsletters per year to make National Trust membership even more enjoyable. As a result of these activities we have funded a variety of projects in the West Dorset National Trust area. Recently, these included equipment for the local ecology group, outdoor information boards, a major hedge laying project and restoration of a wildflower meadow.

We take our name from the highest cliff on the South Coast of England – The Golden Cap – which is of outstanding ecological and geological importance because of its size and diversity and is part of the Jurassic Coast.

An Independent Association

We are independent of the National Trust but governed by a constitution common to all the charity’s Centres and Associations. Our affairs are conducted by a committee elected at our Annual General Meeting held every March.

We are always pleased to welcome new members in particular those living within the geographical area of Beaminster, Bridport, Burton Bradstock, Lyme Regis and their environs but members are welcome from further afield. We are also eager to recruit people prepared to help with the organisation of our programme on either a regular or an ad-hoc basis.
